Lake Success, New York, March 22, 2002... Park Electrochemical Corp. (NYSE - PKE) announced the promotion of Steve Schaefer to Senior Director of Product Technology. Mr. Schaefer will now be responsible for the leadership, coordination and management of worldwide new product development efforts throughout the Park/Nelco organization. Mr. Schaefer will report to Emily Groehl, the Company's Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

The major activities and responsibilities of this new role are working with Park/Nelco's customers and suppliers, with original equipment manufacturers, and with the Park/Nelco business units to manage product and technology feasibility, product launches and product commercialization.

Previously, Mr. Schaefer held the position of Product Director, High Volume Products for Park/Nelco. Mr. Schaefer has more than eighteen years of sales, product management and technical experience. Prior to joining Park/Nelco in January 2002, he served as Director of Sales and Marketing for OMG Fidelity in Newark, New Jersey. Previously he was employed by LeaRonal, Inc. in various positions including National Sales Manager. Mr. Schaefer received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the State University of New York in 1983.
